Moroccan women, lives in black and white

As once they told me, Morocco is a country of contrasts, nevertheless. During this assignment where I had to reflect some different realities of Moroccan women, I saw the contrast of a country that looks like it is half way between Europe and Africa. It still has many social problems, most of them hidden under the surface of a colorful, and some times, occidental country. Poverty is still wide spread between the population and most of them have to work hard to get to the end of the month. But if some of the Moroccan collectives are still far from occidental standards, these are the women. In many cases they have to affront too the economic situations working many hours out of home and the household working many hours in home. The high degree of illiteracy and the strong ancient culture costumes many times lead them to play the hardest paper in the family, community, etc. specially in rural zones. This is a feature where I followed six women in their everyday life. I tried to find that they wold be representative of different sectors and trying to base my self in a recent study of the Moroccan women.

I also wold like to thank personally for this feature: Boukdidi and Abdelhay in Chefchouen, Gasmi and Loubna in Tetouan, and a special thanks for the photos and her work to Nadia in Tanger, and all the women that I photographed knowing what that can mean for some of them.
