In this case I was looking for a size incongruence. As we can see there are several people walking on the top of the dam that gives us an idea of it's mighty size, on the other hand, I cut the bottom part of for not beeng able to see the end, and luckaly, I think that the dark under part of the mage produced by years of humidity has helped even a bit more to this 'deep' sence of the dam, all together helped by the grand angular, I confess.
I also whant to recall that this dam was constructed in 1968 with forced labour of many political prisoners during Franco's dictatorship, many people died building this mole.

I didn't get chance to see the old version but this one looks very good.

I like everything about the picture, so many layers represent different things. The bottom part implies the deep, dark, sad history of this place. and the top part bright sky indicates the wonderful future. The comparison takes my heart up and down, I am in shock. The small human figures remind me of some Henri's shots, they surprise viewers and are the keys to the pictures.

Boy, Mikel, what a difference. The dam looks so much higher now, and you definitely are calling more attention to the people, too. Don't fret about the change in format. I think viewers accept images that are not the exact dimensions of a camera's frame much more naturally now that Photoshop has revolutionized cropping forever!

I agree that croping it stresses alot more the vertical feeleng, you're right it is even much more dramatical pitie that it is not in a full format though. :)

Yes, I see the scale incongruity here, Mikel. But those people are so small that some may not note them and just see the dam itself. All you need do to stress those people more is to crop this shot from the left, making it a long tall shot. There is a tiny horizontal white roof just over the top of the dam on the left hand side. Bring your crop line just to the right of that roof, taking it out. And watch what happens this image a result. Less dam, more height, and a better emphasis on the scale incongruity offered by those people. Try it.
