UPDATE Sunday, May 20, 2007 - A second brood of eggs were laid about two weeks ago with the first chick hatching yesterday. Today I observed an adult remove an egg shell from the nest.
So, two chicks have hatched and there are still three eggs.
UPDATE April 22, 2007 - For the fourth year in a row a pair of Eastern Phoebe's have built a nest
on my brother's back porch. Nest building started on March 11 and as you can see by the photos below
the young will be leaving the nest any day. In past years the pair raised two broods.
Both parents have been very actively feed the brood of four.
This pair of Eastern Phoebes nested on the back porch of my brother's home
and is one of the few confirmed nesting records of this species in Caddo Parish.
The pair hatched two broods with five fledglings in the first brood and four in the second.
This is the third straight year that the phoebes have nested on his back porch.
