The food was on a very hot rock, finishing the cooking process in front of me.
This was one of the most intense presentations of food I have seen.
The scene was: sitting alone on a tatami mat in front of a low table in a Ryokan room (traditional Japanese style hotel), with the food presented and (thankfully) explained (mostly in Japanese) by a most professional hostess.
