Perpignan was the capital of the former province and county of Roussillon (French Catalonia or Northern Catalonia). It is also capital of the historical Catalonian comarca of Rosselló. We were lucky in being able to see some of the exhibits of the International Journalistic Photography Festival that was going on at that time. The photographs displayed there were very moving - ranging from pictures from Desert Storm, surviving victims of Hiroshima, and the wilds of Russia. It's amazing how these photographs can change your perspective of the world and tell a story that no words could do justice to.
Unfortunately, our stay here was quite short as I would have liked to have had more time to explore this really interesting city. Hope to have another opportunity to visit this city again in the future.
