Bertha (Berthy) is a stray cat. Monitoring her territory, and occasionally stops by our house to have some breakfast or lunch, eventually supper. She has very beautiful green eyes so we couldn't resist to feed her. During the most rainy days in June, she was probably starving from not eating enough food, and became very skinny.
(Bertha is a female Germanic name, from Old High German berhta meaning "bright one".) She is a calico cat. Calico cats are domestic cats with a spotted or parti-colored coat that is predominantly white, with patches of two other colors (often the two other colors are orange tabby and black). Outside of North America the pattern is more usually called tortoiseshell-and-white.
Berthy has been attached to the outside of our home, for the past few weeks. She is a little bit less afraid of us, but still keeps her distance from us. As we have noticed by her huge stomach, she will be a mommy soon.
14-AUG-2012, Berthy is finally a mother, and probably she had 5 or possibly more than 5 babies.
Six weeks later we only found one kitten, same calico colors. We were very happy, but also sad at the same time. Unknown what happened to the rest of the litter.
