Smoky Mountains - Arrival and the first day

We arrived at the condo where we were staying in the evening. It proved to be a unique location with panoramic views of the valley and the mountain ridges. The condo itself was small and cozy. The drive up to the condo was an adventure in itself.

On the first full day we were there we hiked the Appalachian Trail (AT) to Charlie's Bunion. It wa an 8 mile round-trip hike along the crest of the mountain chain separating Tennessee from North Carolina.

Lunch was tuna salad sandwiches and fruit. We had a giant omelet for dinner. :-) The beer tasted good after a tiring day.
