This was the fog shrouded vista I encountered arriving in Bluefield at 7:30 am. for class. I thought the Christmas decorations were up a little early but then remembered Dr. Phil was coming today.

His visit was delayed by fog because his plane couldn't land on the short mountaintop runway that is the Bluefield Airport.

The FAA advises: "Precipitous terrain on approaches. Obtain local altimeter setting. If not received, use Beckley."

During his talk, Dr. Phil said he was afraid they wouldn't be able to land but as always the fog lifts around mid morning. I don't know how long they circled that airport but I bet it was hours.
