There are people living like this all over the country. When you title this page "The Hidden Appalachia" you are only adding to the stereotypes that Appalachia is mostly a bunch of back country hill billies who are too poor or to uneducated about life elsewhere. This woman may be happy with her life but I imagine it's a pretty dank environment. Animal hoarders are pretty happy about their lives too you know.

Yes less government involvement is the key! but, i think its citizen's duties to help others! I know I could not live in this type of environment and neither could any of my family members. As a Christian mission worker I do a lot of mission work in WVA and KY and my heart hurts for people who live in these situations. There are hardly any job opportunities in some of these cities and it is our job to help!

How is it pathetic, if she chooses to live that way and is happy with her life? And who are you to judge? You ever think not everyone is afforded the same opportunty or has a support system? Your judgemental, elitist attitude makes YOU look pathetic.
