Shawn

West Virginia

Polaroid Big Shot. Fujifilm FP 100C.

It's not like I don't have enough Polaroid cameras. But I decided I need a Big Shot. I guess I was having a real retro moment.

This camera does one thing and one thing only well. Take portraits. It has a fixed aperture of f29 so you always have to use a flash except in bright sun and it has a fixed focus of about 3 1/2 feet.

This causes what is known as the Big Shot Shuffle. You don't adjust the camera. You move your body until the double image in the viewfinder merges. You look pretty retarded. :)

The camera itself is bizarre looking enough. It looks like an extension tube is built in. It is very large and long.

The camera is best known for being used by Andy Warhol to take photos for his silk screens.

Shawn was one of the few people who wouldn't cooperate. He kept moving and was looking down at a fishing reel he had just bought. I was doing the shuffle of course. I finally decided to not worry about getting his eyes in the photo and fired it off.

Well, his cap does say "Leave me alone." :)

great portrait, I like the more dark result, great for a veteran portrait.
