Suttons Bay Anthropology Club

DIG THIS!

The Suttons Bay Anthropology Club is a student organization of the Suttons Bay Public Schools. In l998, the Middle School offered an exploratory class to eighth grade students in anthropology. The high interest in the subject, from this first class, extended to the creation of the high school club.
The eighth grade class offers the students an introduction to archaeolgy, ethnology and ethnography. The club allows the students to put into practice these elements of anthropology, through the Beaver Island Archaeology Field School and the student trips throughout the year. Our trips have taken us to the ancient city site of Cahokia, located near St. Louis, Missouri and to Chaco Canyon, located west of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The club meets once a month, during the school year, and plans fundraising activities to support trips and projects. For further information, you may contact Terri Bussey at the Suttons Bay Middle School.
