I spent one afternoon at the BTRTM situated at Sago Lane in busy Singapore Chinatown on the 2 June 2007.It was a very hot afternoon. The BTRTM holds the Sacred Buddha Tooth and Relics. In 2002, Venerable Cakkapala decided to hand the Buddha Tooth Relic ( which he had reverently enshrined for 22 years) to Ven Shi Fazhao to be safeguarded. He hoped that one day a temple and a monastery would be built to house the Buddha's Sacred Tooth and Relics and to spread the teachings of Buddha.Chinatown was the right choice as it is the locus of the roots of Chinese culture in Singapore. The Sacred Buddha Relic Chamber is the main reliquary of the Buddha Tooth Relic. No photography is allowed here. The gold stupa is the main attraction here. The Buddha Mandala above the stupa and the gold floor tiles enhanced the majesty and sacredness of this holy place. The Temple itself is a piece of architectural marvel constructed according to the style of the ancient Tang Dynasty. It is the BTRTM's vision to be the Buddhist cultural hub of the region.
