One minute silence for the shohada (martyrs) of Mavi Marmara.

The Israeli military attacked the Freedom Flotilla in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea early on May 31, killing nine Turkish citizens on board the six ships and injuring about 50 other people. The fate of three other Freedom Flotilla activists is still unknown.
Israel also arrested nearly 700 activists from 42 countries on board the Freedom Flotilla, which was attempting to break the siege of Gaza in order to deliver 10,000 tons of humanitarian assistance to the long-suffering people of the territory.

Nine Turkish men on board the Mavi Marmara were shot a total of 30 times and five were killed by gunshot wounds to the head, according to the vice-chairman of the Turkish council of forensic medicine, which carried out the autopsies for the Turkish Ministry of Justice. Eight of them were fathers whose children are now yatims due to the Israeli assault on the Freedom Flotilla.
As the result twenty-eight children lost their fathers as a result of the Israeli attack on the Freedom Flotilla.

Furkan Dogan, (19-year-old) who also has US citizenship, was shot five times from less than 45cm(18 inches), in the face, in the back of the head, twice in the leg and once in the back. Furkan Dogan was a high school student studying social sciences in the town of Kayseri in central Turkey and planned to become a doctor. Fulkan Dogan was born in Troy, N.Y., and moved to Turkey at the age of 2. Son of Dr. Ahmet Dogan, Assoc Prof at Erciyes University, Fulkan Dogan was Turkish-American, with two siblings.

Ibrahim Bilgen, (61 years old) an electrical engineer from Siirt and Member of the Chamber of Electrical Engineers of Turkey. After working as an electrical engineer in various companies, Ibrahim Bilgen founded Bilgen Mühendislik, an electrical engineering company, in 2004. In addition, he founded the first television channel in Siirt, the local television channel SELAM TV. He was married with 6 children.

Ali HaydarBengi, (39 years old), from Diyarbakir. Graduate of Al-Azhar University, Cairo (Department of Arabic literature). Married with 4 children,

Cevdet Kiliçlar, (38 years old), from Kayseri. Originally a journalist, worked for the past year as webmaster for the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) Married with two children.

Çetin Topçuoglu, (54 years old), from Adana. Former amateur soccer player and taekwondo champion, who coached Turkey’s national taekwondo team. Married with one son.

Necdet Yildirim, (32 years old), an IHH aid worker from Malatya. Married with a three-year-old daughter.

Fahri Yaldiz, (43 yers old), a firefighter who worked for the Municipality of Adiyaman. Married with four children.

Cengiz Songür, (47 years old), from Izmir. Married with six daughters and one son.

Cengiz Akyüz. (41years old), from Iskenderun. Married with children aged 14, 12 and nine.
