I was shocked from a true movie called "Conspiracy - Thornwell ".

The story was about horrible army life of James Robert Thornwell, whose accusation that the U.S. Army used mind control drugs, (EA 1729, LSD) on him to force him to confess to stealing secret documents while stationed in Orleans, France, in 1961. The Freedom of Information Act of the 70's and lawsuits have begun to reveal the shocking use of illegal drugs (LSD) combined with psychological and physical torture conducted by the United States Army against its very own troops on active duty overseas. This was part of Operation Third Chance. As a result, it led Congress to award him $625,000 in damages nearly twenty years later. Harry Moses, who produced a "60 Minutes" segment on Thornwell in 1979, produced and directed this dramatized version of the former soldier's ordeal. The real Thornwell, who was permanently scarred by the events, never was able to hold a job as a civilian and died in June, 1984.

A study of the inhalation effectiveness of agent EA 1729 (d-lysergic acid diethylamide) and its maleate salt was conducted in which retained doses ranging from 0.3 to 7.8 micron g/kg were administered to 60 military volunteers. Onset time for the effective aerosol dose is about 15 min, peak time about 1-1/2 hr, and partial recovery time about 5-1/2 hr. Full recovery requires at least 12 hr. The safety factor in man cannot be stated with certainty. If man resembles most other animals in his toxicological response, the ratio of lethal to effective dose would be very high; however, there is not direct information about lethality in man. By the aerosol dissemination technique employed the effectiveness of the aerosol route is 0.25 to 0.30 that of the oral or intravenous routes. Prior exposure to the agent does not significantly influence the numerical facility performance decrement observed when an equivalent dose is given 2 weeks later.
