Platt Rd. Live Fire Training (Shelton) 5/1/05

SHELTON, CT - The Shelton Fire Department conducted live fire training in two acquired houses on May 1, 2005. The houses were slated for demolition to make room for a new car wash. This live burn exercise was coordinated by instructors with Top Rung Training Associates, LLC.. This group of instructors consisted of officers and fire fighters from Bridgeport, Woodbridge and New York City. These instructors believe live fire training in acquired structures is the best and most realistic training a firefighter can experience.

The day was split up into two parts. The first half of the day was comprised of Shelton Companies 1 and 4 being trained in the first of the two acquired buildings, followed by a complete demolition by fire at the end of their evolutions. The second half of the day, Shelton Companies 3 and 5 ran their evolutions in the second acquired structure, followed by the complete demolition by fire of that building.
