BRIDGEPORT, CT - Tuesday, 12/16/03 , shortly before 1 p.m., the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in an occupied residence on the city's East Side. The report from the first in companies on Smith St. reported heavy fire showing on the second floor "B" and "C" sides.
All occupants were accounted for and an aggressive interior attack had begun. Fire had extended to the third floor and roof area via balloon frame, and operations on the top floor proved difficult because of the tongue-and-groove ceiling construction.
Five engine companies, two truck companies, one rescue, one battalion, and one safety officer responded to the blaze. (A-Shift)
