BRIDGEPORT, CT - At approximately 7:10pm on October 26, 2004, the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to 557 Artic St. for a structure fire. As Engine 10 got closer to the scene, they reported heavy smoke in the area. Battalion 2 then arrived on scene reporting heavy smoke showing from a two and a half wood frame structure. The fire had originated in the basement and charged all of the upper floors. Companies quickly knocked down the fire as searches were conducted and proved to be negative. The fire was contained to the basement and one firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.
