Whitewater Falls is located in North Carolina on Highway 281 south of Hwy64. There is a $2 parking fee. It is about a .5 mile fairly easy walk on a paved path from the parking to the falls. From the main viewing area there are stairs to the right that at first look intimidating, but take them to get a better look at the falls! This falls is breathe taking and must been seen. The viewing area is several hundred yards from the falls, but the falls is several hundred feet tall.
These shots were all taken with a Canon 20D and 24-70L and 70-200L IS Lens using a B+W ND103 and B+W CP mounted on a Bogen 3021Pro tripod and using a Bogen 322RC2 Ball/Grip head.
I rate these falls as a 9 and access difficulty at 2.
Its in the SC section because it is very accessible from Upstate SC. When I was at Clemson, one of my favorite things to do with my friends on the weekend was to drive the 45 minutes to Whitewater Falls to spend the day climbing the falls then eating dinner along the way back at a little mountain diner (salisbury steak and mashed potatoes!), then dropping by a country store to listen to real-life, foot-stomping mountain music!
