Lucy Vincent Beach, Marthas Vineyard

Awarded Blue Ribbon, Class B, Quinenaug Valley Photography Club
12/01/2005
Awarded 2nd Place, Overall Year, Class B Quinebaug Valley Photo Club 05-06

Another from the weekend. Just realized I miss placed the one from a couple days ago--Lucy Vincent Beach, not Squibnocket... Bill Ewart where are you :)!
This is a pretty cool town beach. You need a sticker to get in, and you need to get there early since the parking is limited. Clothing optional vollyball. Great clay cliffs. About 2 miles up from 'our' beach, the Beach cops will stop walkers from entering the sacred territory. Even if I do have mail with my name and my Chilmark address... GRRR!

Wow, Karen, your stuff just keeps blowing me away! This is a fabulous image. Indeed, enter it somewhere. I'm quite impressed!

A natural composition with strong colours. Very nice. I suspect 'clothes optional' is what we call 'naturists'
Alf Terje Vollan29-Nov-2005 19:39

I think this is a masterpiece Karen. I'll certainly place a vote - but this should be entered somewhere.

What a wonderful scene... I could wander here for days ~ Well, the beach police would prolly track me down :~(
Beauty shot & great narrative. I'll pass on the volley ball tho :~o tee-hee

Ahhhhhh!! The famous Lucy Vincent Beach!!! This beach is almost impossible to get to , except maybe now that it's off season. This is also the view of James Belushi's home too.......the beach the Blues Brother's would party on!!! The clothing optional swimmers last right up until October---those diehards!!!!!!!!!

Great shot Karen-very eye catching!!!! Well composed and great skies too!
Focus29-Nov-2005 15:20
Very nice image.........I too would like to see around that corner! :)
Neal Nye29-Nov-2005 12:44
Oooh what a nice moody sky. The clothing optional ones must all be inside, where they can toast their, um, selves, in front of a roaring fire.
Breland29-Nov-2005 12:37
Great shot Karen. I like the way it lead you around the bend into the neat storm clouds.
Guest 29-Nov-2005 11:46

Very nice image, well done :)
Karen Stuebing29-Nov-2005 10:55
Now I want to see around that corner. :) Excellent capture of the fence, beach, sea and sky. It all fits together and makes the viewer want to walk up farther. Too bad you can't.

This is an image with a story. Very nice. The town protects their clothing optional beach; interesting!
Guest 29-Nov-2005 09:37
This is so beautiful... evokes so many emotions and feeling... an image that inspires a story
cheers

Don't think you'd find any of those volleyballers out today!
Guest 29-Nov-2005 06:51
is this a famous beach karen??
i have seen this picture or a variation of this picture before...
it has a potential for a monochrome work with dramatic overtones. :)
Guest 29-Nov-2005 06:06
What a great composition and colours Karen!
Guest 29-Nov-2005 05:57
Wonderful tones and colors, not to mention the rich composition.

That is really a beauty. I especially like that dark cloud peeking into the photo.
petesie29-Nov-2005 05:00
The composition is great, and the sky just goes on forever. Laughing at the thought of clothing opitional volleyball....but I did vote for this photo.
Coleen Perilloux Landry29-Nov-2005 05:00
Lovely shot, Karen, everything about it. The sky, the white caps, the rocks, the fence and sea grass; all make it beautiful. What, no naked people?
Beverly Wickersham29-Nov-2005 04:53
Excellent. Nice job composing this shot.
Robin Reid29-Nov-2005 04:46
Well frame Karen. I like the way the fence draws my eye into the photo.

Choking back a sputter at Bandito! It was a little too nippy Saturday-- and the nets were all down.
