02-JUN-2005

A short visit by Abby today at work. Not sure there's anything in the world like a child's mirth.
Did the b/w conversion in PSCS after not liking the florescent lighting, or the white balance setting with florescent.
I have a really really stupid question I hope someone can clear up: Raw conversion- I've never figured out what the difference in the exposure setting and the brightness setting is. Same thing with shadows and contrast. Maybe that's why most of my stuff is very dark (besides being badly exposed to begin with.) Anyone want to volunteer, in layman's terms, to a very simple minded picture taker??

In layman’s terms, I’ve absolutely no idea. I’m not even going to try a technical explanation. Either way, I think it’s a great portrait.

I'll be interested tooo... and you did well here.
I think shadows/exposure narrows or widens the range (up to 256) shades of grey. Brightness takes what ever range you have chosen and lightens or darkens it but doesn't change the range you selected?
