My grandfather Albert C. Naukam was assigned to Engine 21 from his commissioning in 1916 until he retired, probably around 1949. Does anyone have a photo of the old firehouse on Best St.? He never lived to see this shiny new one, though I'm sure he would have loved it.

I grew up on the east side of Buffalo. A night without hearing the q siren and watching rigs race down Genesse St. allmost never happend and when there was fire close by I ran to watch those guys work. It's why I became a fire fighter. Of course I had to do it down south cause trying to get on the BFD these days is like, well lets just say I'm gona go buy some lotto tickets and not hold my breath. I was allways in love with all the old firehouses in Buffalo. I brag and show pictures of them to all the guys at my firehouse. But come on guys this is the uglyest firehouse ever. It looks like a car wash or something. I'm glad they got away from this style with the new houses. Be even beter if they would restore the old houses. Stay safe guys.

this is my fav house in the city my fav engine is engine 21 i hear we are gettin more new engines and im sure 21 will be getting a new seeing as how truck 6 got a new one and the rescue is getting ond as well 2 bad 16 is we culd still use along with ladder 11 12 9 and engine 18 losing 24 and 10 doesnt bother me really but losing those 3 laddertrucks in the city just made things worse if they were smart theyd find a way 2 at least get these 3 ladder trucks back in service they are vital to the city and were strategicaly placed in good parts of the cit that need protection

This station at Jefferson and Kingsley is the "Big House". Originally built to quarter Engine 16, Engine 21, and Ladder 6, it was built in 1991.
Engine 16 was decommissioned in 2002 and since that time the following companies have worked out of the station. Engine 21, Ladder 6, Rescue 1, and Haz-Mat 1.
