I went to PS19 1964 (Kndgrgrtn) and 1965 (1st grade). The neighborhood was mostly Itlaian/American. Ms. Fontaine/1st grade, was a great teacher. She also taught us how to shop for food (she had us bring in empty food containers to set up the class like a store), make change, address and envelope, and answer the phone (with real working test phones). I know she used some of her own money. She was one of the nicest teachers I knew. We did a play about the holidays in every month of the year with Ms. Riso's class. Kids and teachers and the neighborhood was so nice and peaceful. If anyone had Ms. Fontaine or Ms. Riso in 1965 or anytime and want to chat, please email me at: benderfox@yahoo.com. I don't know when they retired or if they are still alive. Thanks!

I also went to school 19. Loved it. I was there for grades 3,4, and 5. Respectively I had Mrs Franklin, Mrs Gugino, and Mrs. Sherk. My little sister began Kindergaten while I was there...she also had Mrs. Crume..then went to Mrs. Matthias. We lived on Helen Place. Dates as I remember them were probably 1964 on through maybe 1967. I'd love to find out if the archives contain all the classs pics. Anyone interested in helping?

Yes, This school had so many memories for me. Ms Russlander, Ms. Fontaine, Principle Forte, Ms Fararo, Mr Pickles, Ms. Henry, Mr. Wagner, Ms Emerson, Ms Leasy and Ms Riso. If anyone has any information on where Ms Riso is today please let me know. I have come across so many people that want to thanks her. Especially me.

I went to this school in kindergarden and first grade. Mrs Crume and Mrs Robbins were my teachers. Mrs Ruslander was the principle at the time. Wow that was like almost forty five years ago. We lived on DeWitt Street. I still have my class pictures. Buffalo holds many fond memories for me.

I went to school here from 1964-66. I remember when we were in the playground and a guy was pointing a rifle at us from the 2nd story of a house. Needless to say we were all ushered into our classes quickly. My best memory was that of my 1st grade teacher Miss Fontaine. Not only did she teach the required curriculum, she also taught us how to shop, make change, answer the phone, address an envelope, etc. I know she used some of her own money. She truly loved teaching and most importantly, us. Wherever you are Miss Fontaine...God bless you and thank you for making learning fun. If anyone else would like to share some memories of this remarkable woman, please feel free in emailing me. Thanks!
