To Dan Tremblay -- I remember the principal at the time I attended McKinley in 1951 - 1952 as Robert S. Hoole and Bert Camprath was the assistant principal. My pattermaking shop teacher was Mr. Claybeau. I to had Miss Clayman for English class then.

I graduated in June of 54. The Principal was Mr. Kampreth. My bricklaying teacher was named Adam Grundon and I remember my English teacher Miss Clayman as one of the people instrumental in my life. Great time in my life my years at McKinley.

I lettered in football at McKinley in 1951. If I remember right the head coach was named Eddie Middlestedt and the assistant coach was Frank Radzwell. The team quarterback was Paul Metz, and the fullback was Pete O'Polka. I played defensive right tackle and occasionally the 4th down punter. Only played for a year and then quit school to seek employment.

My freshman year a the school was 1950 when they were still teaching vocational trades. I was taking Wood Patternmaking. Other skilled trades that were taught at that time were: Plastering, Plumbing, Carpentry, Machinist, and Horticulture. Don't even know if these courses are taught anymore in the city of Buffalo. I left Buffalo in 1959.

The grounds of this site was home to the Buffalo Orphan Asylum after it moved from Virgina (corner of Elmwood - PS 46). The Asylum sold the property of the Buffalo School District as the number of orphaned children declined and the grounds and buildings became too large for the original purpose. When the high school was first built, it incorporated the the original entrance of the orphanage. I am in the process of researching information about the Orphanages in the Buffalo Area. If anybody has information they are willing to share please contact me at buffalo.orphanage.studies@adelphia.net. Thank You

My fresman year at Mckinley was 1965. They stated to rear down the old school and it took four years to build the present one. I remember some of our classes were in what would be the future bathroom to one of the shops. We were the first class to graduate from the new building in 1969.
