I attended School 63 from Kindergarten through 8th grade, graduating with the class of 1974. The teachers were great and it was a wonderful school in a lovely neighborhood. I walked to school by myself or with friends, including walking home every day for lunch, from the time I was in first grade. We had swimming and gym, music and art, Home EC and IA. I always felt safe and especially loved Mrs. Herman, Mr. Yellen and Mrs. Pukavige - all super teachers. Can't believe I graduated 45 years ago.

It was so nice reading comments from people that I have not thought of in nearly 4 decades. Like Karen, I graduated from PS #63 in 1975 and to this day I felt that I obtained a quality education. Of course I remember Mr. Axelrod and VP Mrs. Miller. So many other great teachers - Mrs. Skopjak, Mrs. Watts, Mr. Yellen. I appreciate all of them as an educator myself. I teach high school, AP Calculus, and education has changed significantly over the years. I long for the days when teachers and principals actually intimidated the students and didn't have to compete with social media. Its a whole new world.

I attended PS 63 from 1952 to 1955 for grades 5, 6 and 7. I remember teachers Miss Ringmacher, Mrs. Wiegel and Mrs. Stumpf to name a few. I also remember June Fair (who left a previous comment here) from both PS 63 and PS 83.

I drove by this school today; it's in pretty sad shape unfortunately. They're doing an asbestos removal from it and there's tape and boards up all over; the "Campus North" at the third floor sign is gone completely, and there's vandalism on the one by the road. It's a sad because it's a really pretty building, hopefully it can be brought back.

I arrived here for 6,7,8. The place seemed huge after years at 83. I can still remember the smell of the swimming pool. Separate entrances for boys and girls here as well. What's up with that?

I recall my days at PS 63 during the WW2 years, and clapping erasers down in the fan room...
My most memorable moment was when Mrs. Stumpfs bloomers fell down during class. Didn't crack a smile and just pulled them up with the comment " they don't make elastic like they used to...and my close buddies, Ed Weisenheimer, Gilbert Stengle, Don Roberts and others that were such fun in those days when dogs didn't have leashes, nor did we....

I am a former student of Campus North, class of "1990". If you are looking to reconnect, there is a Facebook "group" Buffalo PS #63 Campus North for those who attended in the 1980s.

I only attended PS 63 for one year, 1952/53, when I was in fifth grade. It went up to at least sixth grade at that time, because my sister, who was in sixth grade, attended with me.

Before that, I attended PS 83 from K-4. It's hard to believe that either of the buildings are still there and in use.

You must have gone to PS 83 on 24 Montcalm, which went up to 5th grade and then we went to 63 for 6, 7 and 8th grades. School 63 Facebook groups - check them out.

I believe I attended PS 63 for kindergarten and 1st grade. I remember walking there but I lived at 93 University ave. It doesn't seem possible based on the address?! Am I mistaken somehow?

Wow!!!! what memories.
I attended 63 from 1969 to 1978.
As Karen mentioned, Mr Axelrod was probably the scariest man alive, at least with that paddle he displayed.
I remember getting out for lunch and walking home, I never liked having to stay at school for lunch if my mom wasn't home that day. Those were good times and we all felt safe.
I went to religious instruction at a house right across the street for some years till we went to St Joes on Main St.

Campus north was an amazing school.
Everyone knew everyone.
It was more like a family.
I just went to a reunion there tonight for "classes of '83,'84 & '85.~~(7/10/09)
It was such a good time.Such memories.Such good friends I never thought I'd see again.
This school closed down due to "having to many structural problems",but ended up opening right back up the following fall,as a different school, after they threw all of our kids and educators out.
A little renovating & this school should re-open for the kids & staff who called it "home".
"Campus North Stars" ,we will foever be.

I attended PS 63 from kindergarten through 8th grade. I graduated in 1975. I also had Mrs. Walther as a kindergarten teacher. Didn't everyone! She was always playing the piano and dressed so beautifully. Back then we were afraid of the principal, Mr. Axelrod. He was so intimidating. We all walked home for lunch and then back again. It didn't matter what the weather was and parents didn't pick us up - we walked with our friends. Someone had to keep track of the time back then so we knew when to return to school.

Looking at this photo brings back so many memories. I live in Florida now and every few years I make it back to Buffalo. I left PS 63 in 1965 and still remember my fist day of kindergarten with Miss Walther.
