Wildroot Mfg. Corp.

1740 Bailey Ave. Buffalo

The Wildroot Company made men's hair grooming oils and cremes. The most famous was Wildroot Creme Oil, which was advertised as "Grooming The Hair," "Relieves Dryness," and "Removes Loose Dandruff." I recall their cartoon character, "Creme Oil Charley," who was used in their advertising. A Google search reveals that there is still a Wildroot Creme Oil marketed, but I don't know by who or where they're out of.

For anyone interested, I've been doing research on the company and the building. I would hope to see it redeveloped eventually, but for now I'm gathering pictures and info to share with everyone. Everything can be seen on facebook, just search for Wildroot Buffalo to view or contribute to the page.

So far I've located newspaper articles, actual photos of employees working, a timeline of their company growth, and print ads done by future president Ronald Reagan, etc as well as a jingle sung by Nat King Cole.
