Dear Guest that takes his A.P. Art History class here. I attend College in Wa State and I am here in Buffalo to do an independent study on the History of the Catholic Church including the use of religious images and objects. I was wondering if you could give me any insight or backround knowledge as I plan to visit.
This is such a beautiful church. It's just such a shame that so may of our beautiful heirlooms to the past are now looked into neighborhoods that resemble a combat zone rather than a residential one. I have driven by on my way to work and seen kids vandalizing, etc. with parents/elders watching and not doing anything. It's just amazing how truly ignorant and dumb people are.
Blessed Trinity will celebrate its 100th Anniversary on June 11, 2006 with a 3 PM Mass.
A school reunion is planned for the weekend of September 23 & 24th for all graduates and friends. On Sunday, October 29th a Anniversary Dinner will be held in the Mary Seton room at Kleinhan's Music Hall. For details on any of these events call the church office at 833-0301.
I too received all my sacraments at this wonderful church. I attended Blessed Trinity School and graduated class of 1963 - The nuns were wonderful and gracious.
TRULY ONE OF THE "HIDDEN TREASURES" OF BUFFALO'S ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE! EACH CHRISTMAS I TREAT MY A.P. ART HISTORY CLASS TO A TOUR AND LESSON ON EARLY CHRISTIAN SYMBOLISM AT THIS MAGNIFICANT CHURCH. TEENAGERS DO NOT IMPRESS VERY EASILY BUT MY STUDENTS NEVER DISAPPOINT ME WITH THEIR REACTION AS THEY FIRST SIGHT THIS LITTLE GEM, HIDDEN AWAY IN A QUIET EAST SIDE NEIGHBORHOOD. IT IS WELL WORTH SEEKING OUT! DON'T MISS THE COMPREHENSIVE AND WELL WRITTEN LITTLE GUIDE BOOK FOR SALE IN THE CHURCH . IT ILLUSTRATES AND EXPLAINS THE VAST ARAY OF "VISUAL AIDS" FOUND BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CHURCH. AT ONE TIME THEY WERE INDISPENSIBLE FOR THE INSTRUCTION OF CHRISTIANS ON THE TRUTHS OF THEIR FAITH. THIS IS A "LITTLE BIT OF EUROPE" RIGHT HERE IN BUFFALO!
What a magnificient church! Received all my childhood sacraments there. I, too, attended early release (2:30) for Monday's religious ed. but from PS 54. When I think of that experience, I recall the nuns with their hugh white bibbed robes and the dark, glossy, uneven classroom floors. Returned for a visit with my family during the summer of 2002 to find that the Grand Lady hasn't changed, only the neighborhood.
Monday religious instructions early out of PS #61, anything to get out early.
