Apparently I read a few months ago that the new owner of the building that houses the North Park Theatre is going to restorate the front of the theatre. Where the concrete slab is above the marquee used to be stained glass and he's going to restore the glass

OMG I was also there that Saturday when part of the ceiling came crashing down! I was in the fourth or fifth row, center section...and it came down with a WHOMP just to the right of me. I would hang around at closing time and talk the usher into letting me clean up. I vividly remember the large circle in the center of the cieling with it's artwork...I would stare up at it listening to an organ rendition of "If I Loved You" while waiting for the movie to start... cartoons first, of course. Glad to see this precious gem intact. I lived on Linden near Norwalk, upper flat, backed by the railroad tracks.

My friend Linda and I frequently went to the North Park Theater on Saturdays when we were kids. Someone else mentioned that he thought the cost was $ .50 and he was right. One Saturday we were watching a movie and some of the ceiling tiles fell down. We ran out of there and I think ran most of the way home too. We lived on Commonwealth Ave. near Linden. I think we did go back after a while. This photo and this site bring back lots of wonderful memories.
