Nietzsche's

248 Allen St. Buffalo

This bar is one of a kind, as unique as they come, eclectic in musical offerings, and a very real ambiance, nothing contrived or artificial.

We used to hang out there in High School and College in the late 70's/ early 80's. I remember seeing 10,000 Maniacs there many times. Natalie Merchant was nervous in those days and used to sit on a stool sideways or even with her back to the crowd. My friend tried to ask her out several times but got nowhere.

The place was actually a cool "old timers" bar before Nietzsche's fame...forgotten the name, too many cheap beers ago. It was the place to go for "liquoring" up before hitting the "girl" bars with the gang!

I was never a regular at Nietzsche's, but I knew a lot of people who liked going there so I ended up there on quite a few occasions. Eclectic is a very good description of this place.

Great Place... Definitely a main stay of the bar crowd when I was in growing up and in college.

I recall looking drunkenly at a bartender one night and saying... I've been coming here for 3 years and in another two I'll be legal!

HA.. I miss being in Buffalo.

My favorite dive anywhere--true community, and amazing music.
