Victor Noir

Pere LaChaise Cemetery, Paris

Victor Noir was shot to death on the streets of Paris in 1870, and this life-sized casting is a depiction of how he was found. A certain part of his anatomy is quite prominent, and women hoping to get pregnant have rubbed it for luck. Victor should have been so lucky in life.

If the statue was of a female, would anyone find this amusing? Why the double standard? This is the grave of a man who was murdered at 21 years old. I'm not laughing. I think it's an injustice to a brave young man.

I don't mean to be making fun of the dead...but this is hilarious...:)
