Jennifer worked as a waitress from when I first met her through 1977. When we decided I should go back to school, it was her income that paid for it. She worked nights, midnight to eight, and I worked three to eleven. I would go to school days, and even with that schedule, we did it without babysitters or daycare. I graduated summer of 75 with a BS in Criminal Justice, and the state immediately promoted me and I jumped 6 pay grades; we thought we were rich, and we were, in more ways than one.

In 1974, our second child, a girl, was born.
