Austin College moved to Sherman from Huntsville in 1876 not 1846.

Actually, Austin College was never in Austin. It was in Huntsville, on the site where Sam Houston State University now is. It moved to Sherman from Huntsville.

Did you know the bell in the chapel was actually donated by Sam Houston still rings today and that Austin college campus was originally in Austin, TX. wiped out by yellow fever and moved to Sherman in 1846?

The architect of Wynne Chapel was the late Peyton G. Cooper an independent architect of Dallas, TX.
He designed many of the buildings at AC.
He was my father.
