Jiuzhaigou (Literally translated = Nine Village Valley) is a secluded little valley located in Nanping County of Aba Tibet & Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, some 400km north of Chengdu. It belongs to a carbonate barrier lake landform and high mountains and deep valleys can be found there. It has a vast area of 60,000 hectares and a scenic area 80km long. The unique mineral content creates breathtaking water colours.
The UNESCO recognized Jiuzhaigou as a World Heritage site in 1992.
