I first contacted cancer in 1982, at the age of 38, when I had my left vocal cord removed. The surgeon was able to reconstruct the vocal cord with scar tissue, and I was "good to go". In 2004 the cancer returned, and my entire voice box was removed. I have a prosthesis in my throat that allows me to speak normally. I have a hole(stoma)in my neck that I breathe and talk through. From June 2007-May 2008 I had 3 surgeries on my right lung, but the cancer kept returning. After a month of rest, I had chemo & radiation for 6 weeks. It is now 1 year later, and I am cancer free, after a very tough battle. I just want Lance to know that he has been an inspiration to me. I try to be a daily inspiration to my 4 children and 7 grand children. I just wanted to say " THANK YOU LANCE" for the inspiration you have given me. I have a couple of sayings that help me, "When God gives you lemons, make lemonade" and "OOU-BLAH-DEE OOU-BLAH-DAH life goes on"
Again I say THANK YOU,
Robert Truax
