This oil painting is done by my niece Hannah who is 11 yrs old. This is her first oil painting and she has no more yet.
It took her about eight days to paint; however the picture is not finished. She got very frustrated and her granny Betty who is an artist told her to leave it as it is. Not to try and make it perfect. I think she caught the look in the eyes of the subjects - they look so real. Don't know if she will continue, I suspect she will when she gets older.

Today me and mom visited a very close friend Louise Coleman. Her husband "Louis" had just passed away last Thursday night. Everyone who was visiting noticed Louis's favorite furry buddy " Ace" mourning. It was heartbreaking to see such a devoted creature who was designed to be a favorite friend to someone grieving so. Ace is always running around,excited and happy but not today. He mainly sat in this position as you see pictured.
I had to have a picture , knowing that I would not only share the love for an animal, but the love of an animal.

Animals certainly can suffer the loss of a loved one just as people can.
Louis, you are greatly missed.

He treated Elvis Presley when he came through Lexington in March of 56.
What was he treated for you ask ? Sore throat !

While doing my fleamarket thing, I saw a funny sight. A man trying to use his cell phone while holding too many bags of chips. One fell to the ground while I pulled my camera out of its quick draw holster !

This is what I think to be the house I stopped at years ago. The same house that belonged to a lady who is on the video that my grandfather took long ago ! Please help me find the address or the owner of the house please.

About 20 yrs ago me and a galfriend were riding from Grandfather Mt on my motorcycle. The weather got bad, cold and hail though it was a summer day. We pulled off the road looking for shelter and came to what appeared to be an abandoned house. We sat on the porch and wrapped ourselves in some plastic we found on the porch. Surprised a lady came to the door and asked what we were doing. We pointed to the weather and the motorcycle and it was easy to see. She understood and asked us in ! We ate lunch with her and her mom and dad ! She was a professor at Boone and this was her summer house ( as best as I can remember ). She showed us around the house and told us it used to be an Inn were people from far off would come and drink the water from the spring on the property to which the name of the Inn was given. ( people believed in those healing powers back then ). She also told us the Inn was ( maybe 3/?? stories ) high until a fire . She showed us a picture on the fireplace mantel of the Lady who ran the Inn many years ago. It was a very nice visit and I certainly their hospitality went a long way with me, but then many years later....
At my grandmothers house which was over 100 miles away, I had snooped through her house and found some old family videos. I was excited to go back in history and see my family in their early years. Well something happened I did not expect. I watched a video and a face became familiar to me and I was a bit puzzled. I asked my grandmother ( who was alive at the time ) who that was. She said it was the lady who ran the Cool Springs Lodge at Jonas Ridge !!!! Well I didn't know what goose bumps on top of goose bumps felt like until that moment. I then told her my story and she got em too ! Astronomical coincidence or a happening designed from a higher power; I wont ever know. I have tried to contact the lady at Appalachian but to no avail. searching for an anchor ( the name of such ) that will hold a machine down under
great force but if an opposing force was to pull up on it with a greater for it could but only as far as the spring tension would allow or until the opposing force ripped the anchor out of the concrete. The spring type anchor would act as a shock absorber in the opposite direction of what a automobiles shock absorber does.

Is there an anchor system such as this ?

I met this nice couple after work today at Subway here in Lexington. Spoke with them a few minutes. His name is George and his girlfriends name is Rocio. He has walked from Washington State, down to Atlanta Georgia and is headed for Washington DC. Yes I said " walk ". I asked him what was he going to do about the cold wet wind we will have here soon and he said " we'll walk in it ". Cool answer huh ! I had to look at his feet to check out his foot gear and was suprised to see he had on beach sandals ( not flip flops ). His toes and feet were exposed to the elements but he said of all the shoes he has he likes those best. He would know right? His girlfriend has traveled to meet him on his journey 6 times and walked with him about 5 % of his walking distance so far. Since I watched the video Im more privaledged that I even got to talk with this guy !

Local NC history bet you didn't know. There was once two rocky knobs at Pilot Mountain ! In 1775 there was still and ongoing revolution in the eastern states. The Redcoats had made it as far west as Pilot Mountain NC. Patriots in the area were now being called on by Colonel John Martin but they were still those who were loyal to the Queen. There was fierce rivalry by neighbors all around Pilot Mountain trying to take over one of the rocky knobs atop of the ridge. Eventually the Redcoats along with those "Torries" who lived in the area took over the south knob. It was a great vantage point for anyone who was atop the mountain being able to see 50 miles in all directions. The North knob was too hard to climb so it wasn't strategically sought after. Unable to fight the greatly outnumbered Redcoats, Colonel John Martin ordered 50 large cannons to be made from the iron ore furnace that still stands today in Stokes County. All at one time a great onslaught of cannonballs were fired onto the south knob where the Redcoats had staged their defense camp. The limestone knob already being weathered and weak crumbled to the ground killing all the Redcoats ! Much later the crumbled rock from Pilot Mountain was mainly used to make concrete. Concrete was in high demand for road material now that America was growing at such an exponential rate.
After Highway 52 construction was finished in 1934 any remaining unused rock from the south knob was bulldozed downhill toward the Yadkin River. Cannon balls can still be found for those who are willing to brave the rocky terrain near the river. There is but one picture that remains of a cannon and the south knob before it was destroyed. These street preachers are defiately " brutish " in their sermons they preach at the Barbeque Festival. They attract noone that is interested in learning about the love of Jesus and what was done for them. They mostly yell about sin and that sinners are going to hell without preaching forgiveness and the love of God.

Jer:10:21: For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.

Start up..... Long press on the power button. Standy state = blue light than long red light immediately.
Video recording. Get in standby mode. Red indicator light turns on. Short press on ON/OFF button starts recording ( after 3 flashes of red light ) THAN NO lights during recording. Another short press of on/off button saves video.
Motion detection - Flip the motion detection switch ON before turning on the camera. When camera catches objects in motion , red light flashes 3 times and records for 3 mins. Whenever you want to shut down camera, hold on off button.
USE Infra red switch when your in dark enviroment.

2nd Corinthians 5:8: ‘We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.’ Many people use this scripture to say the next thing that happens when a person dies is they are(((INSTANTLY)))resurrected and are INSTANTLY with the Lord. Is this what this verse really says ? Is this saying that all the ( righteous) know that when we die we will go to heaven? Has God put such " no brainer " verse in the bible ? Is Paul telling us that when when we die we go to heaven in this passage ? Telling us that when we die we will go to heaven to be with God seems a bit too simple for the need of explanation, and if you will read scripture before and after the verse in question you will see exactly what Paul is talking about! Theres no need for such crude basic teaching here. In fact if you read about what Paul is talking about, it appears something a bit deeper is being revealed ! Consider the preceding and following verses. It strongly suggests that Paul is speaking in a spiritual sense and not literal. It "appears" that he is talking about the way to be present with the Lord in a spiritual sense by contrasting things that are carnal ( of the flesh ) to things that are spiritual. Paul is hinting that when we are absent from the body, meaning not living for the flesh (carnal desires), we are then living for the Spirit ( in the presence of God ). Paul is not talking about death. Nowhere in the vicinity of this scripture does it appear that Paul is eluding to a literal physical death, so why are so many trying to tell us that he is ? Because its something they want to believe even when the bible is saying otherwise. This is the root of the problem !
Lets read scripture right after the scripture in question and see if there is more light shed on the initial verse... 2 Cor 5:6-9
6: Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) Contrasting faith ( that of the spirit ) to sight ( that of the body ) .. spiritual and carnal. That makes easy sense doenst it ? Paul wasnt talking about death or heaven anywhere. So many yank it out of context to make bible doctrine with.
8: We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9: Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
Look at verse 6. If your look at it in the literal opposite it would mean that while we are alive we are absent from the Lord. Heaven forbid ! Jesus tells us that Christians are in his presence and "working to be and stay " in His presence all the time.
