10th October 2005Founded in 1857, Kuala Lumpur is at the confluence (junction) of the Gombak and Kelang rivers and appropriately means "muddy confluence" in Malay. The city itself is pleasant enough with all it's modern building and infrastructure, though I have to say I wasn't too impressed with the taxi drivers. Lucky we had Michelle to drive us around town at night to the various yummy dinners.During the day we took a short monorail trip from the hotel (and a short walk) to the Suria KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) complex, where the Petronas Twin Tower are, and the near by KLCC park for some lunch and a serious bout of photos. I height recommend walking to the far end of the park to where the Asy-Syakirin Mosque is.
