Actually the Cloud Dome is just meant to disperse whatever light is given it - the room I was in used somewhat old and dim flouressant lights that would have yielded a very long exposure. I wanted to eliminate as much camera shake as possible as I did not have a remote release with me, so I opted to use the flash.

Using it in sunlight you would absolutely not need a flash of any sort, in fact I think it would yield the most pleasing pictures.

Why ever did you use flash on all your Cloud Dome test photos? Isn't the cloud dome supposed to be used with natural light?
