It's 11:30 a.m on a fine Saturday morn, and Rick, Mark and I are at the "Olsen Pit" a few miles north of the Hosmer bridge on the gorgeous Elk River. Some nine hours later, we are having a beer at "The Hoz", a funky local bar, noting that the Elk kinda kicked our ass (never mind that I also dropped my little Canon S500 in to The Elk today --- not good for the camera). There have been some decent Elk fishing reports as of late (altho the stretch down from Fernie has been hotter), but our action was a bit slow. I only get a dozen hits, and only land four of those. Rick and Mark get a few cutts; Rick does land a couple of good-sized bull trout. No hatches happening, no rising fish. Happy to see that the BC regs have been modified a bit (you purchase area passes now instead of the more restrictive stream passes) but it is still a pain in the arse to get a new licence every day of a trip :-( Supper is at Yamagoya Sushi... good stuff.
