It's about nine a.m., and Wade and I find ourselves at the Carseland Family Restaurant, enjoying the hamburger steak and eggs (altho not as good as I remembered), and Frank calls to remind us that backswimmers might be working on the Bow. Well, Wade gets some action on a 'schwimmer pattern midday as it turns out, but the rest of the day we mostly stick with tried and true nymphing patterns as we make our way from Mackinnons to Legacy, which is four and a half hours of actual floating time (according to Wade's cool GPS unit). Streamers are tossed from time to time, but without much notable response. It's a gorgeous fall day for the most part, and the fish are active early --- we get ten or so customers at the "Blue Cross" pool. No photos of the two biggest fish of the day. I land a twenty or so incher, but the camera battery had died; Wade lands a comparable fish a bit later, but it leaps outta Wade's hands as it's being asked to pose. I end up with ~ten solid hookups, Wade with ~a dozen. There are a few LDR's and breakoffs, but the majority of hooked fish are landed today. Mostly rainbows, with two smaller Browns landed by Wade. The fish are generally found in deeper water, either flat or choppy, but of a certain depth. Not so much in the faster riffles. We're on at ten or so, off at about six thirty.
