In the stillness of a September night, only the sounds of children's voices can be heard as they play.
At the end of October, snow already graces the mountain on the edge of town. That winter in Qaqortoq saw an incredible amount of snow.
It was wonderful for snow loves like myself.
When you find yourself in a paradise such as this sheep farm valley in south Greenland, it's almost hard to believe that this is the arctic.
It was the end of September and the temperature was 18 degrees Celsius.
These hills are usually full of snow by this time but with unpredictable weather these days it's anybody's guess what is coming.
But if your lucky enough to have a place on the top of town, you get a great view.
Narsaq in Autumn
South Greenland is wonderful in Autumn with golden and earthy colours draping the mountains.
Looking like a face from space, these northern lights seem to be looking down at the people of Qaqortoq in south Greenland
ARCTIC CAFE BAND
On a cold November day the band was good enough to pose while freezing their buns off.
But hey, they're Eskimos so they can handle it.
During a break from entertaining the large Friday night crowd at the always popular Arctic Cafe, the band came out for a quick photo. There's never a dull night at the cafe, where friends meet and they always know your name. It's my favorite bar in all of Greenland. And this band can really get the place heated up on cold nights with some spectacular rock and roll.
Qaqortoq is the most beautiful town in Greenland as many would tell you. But even on cold evenings, there is a special warmth in the town generated by the friendly people who live there.
Jan 22 Surprise
As I was on my way to visit a friend for birthday coffee, I came across this gem that the tide left behind in Nuuk.
Jan 24 2011
After a frosty winter storm, Nuuk is quiet in the winter stillness.
