As a member of the UK Reserve Forces I volunteered for regular service with the British Army in 2000. Based in Banja Luka I was employed as a driver where I would spend nearly a year covering much of the country by road. These are snapshots of my time in Bosnia and my few visits to Croatia.

good pics pal.i was at m/grad bus station and kupres in 1997 with 32 sqn rlc. it brings back some good memories of my time there.one of the best,running the half marathon in m/grad.i am trying to get the wife to go back on a road trip holiday,heres hoping.

Good photos, I was IPTF member in Gradiska town/Banja Luka District , between October 97/October 98. I would like to return, to meet a lots friends that I left over there and also to see how are things nowdays. During my mission I travelled through the mission territory, that why I recognised most of the places in yours photos. (sorry the english) I hope you understand everything I wrote.

Kev Good job. I wonder what the place looks like today?? I think I will go back without this dam uniform and see if I can find some of my friends. I was there in 96-97 posted to the Vraca Police Academy as part of the United Nations I.P.T.F. Lived with a Serb family in Osijek in south Sarajevo. The Brits took took good care of us wayward Canadians - Thanks.

I spent 96/97 going round all the British camps regularly, didnt get the chance to take too many photos - but recognised most of the places in yours! Well done!

Great pics mate. I was at Banja Luka for the last ever contingent of Brit forces and got to see a lot of this beautiful country. I hope it works out for them and will get back there one day, hopefully not in uniform!

David Rowlands Great photos. I was a war artist based with the British Army in Bosnia in Spring 1993: Vitez, Gornji Vakuf, Turbe, etc. In 1995 I was at Sarajevo & Mount Igman. Often it was impossible to stop and take carefully composed photos in the streets because of the snipers, so it's nice to see these photos. OSeveral times I came in contact with Canadian soldiers. Served with the BRITFOR signal squadron 2001-2002, mostly at Banja Luka. Managed to avoid an RTA in my time there, and tried to spend as much time as I could chatting up an Estonian woman in the ECHOS, also great ham and cheese toasties. Memorably moment was watching the Gurkhas try (and largely fail) to put their flag up at the shoe factory in MG if i remember correctly.

I was part of UNPROFOR CANBAT 2 VISOKO,1993-1994 and to see all the changes is excellent. i will be coming back as tourist soon !!

Well done on the sightseeing and not succuming to any major RTA; some achievment in Bosnia and Croatia. I served in Bosnia during 93/94 and 95/96 as part of UNPROFOR/IFOR, again with Nato in 98 and 2002 and i can honestly say i have been to all the locations in your vast collection of photos, and indeed many more. Memories, good and bad came flooding back and looking back i must admit that of all my operational tours, Bosnia brings back the best memories. Hopefully we as a unit will attempt to conduct a battlefield tour some time next year. Look out for a web page and more photos. Well done.

Excellent pics mate. I was there in 96 attached to the 4th UK armoured Div as a US Army PsyOp support element. I spent most of my time in Sipovo but covered much of MNDSW. Had many good nights on the pi** with my British counterparts. Still entertain people with the pigs head incident...to absent friends, CHEERS!!!

Great photo's, I was in Bos firstly in 1992 with UNPROFOR in Gjorni Vakuf & tomislavgrad then again in 1995 - 1996 at Gjorni Vakuf & Banja Luka as UN/IFOR. Would love to go back one day to see how much its changed, have many found memories of nights on the P**S in the ming inn GV!!

Great photo's. I was in Bosnia for a year 2001 to 2002 on attachment to the UN International Police Task Force, based at UN HQ in Sarajevo in the old university building, working on the Border Service Dept then acting as the National Liasion officer between the UN and NATO forces in Camp Butmir. I lived with a Muslim family for the first part of my mission, close to Tito barracks and then with a Serb family, just outside the city. Although things had calmed down alot, we still had gun fire most days and the abandoned plane was still on the airport apron. I went back in 2004 with my wife to find so many things had improved. The abandoned plane had been moved and the once shell damaged newspaper building had also had its damaged tower cleared. Fantasic place with great people and well worth a visit

My what great photos, and oh the memories. I was a Military Police Sergeant Major assigned to Multinational Brigade (North) at Tulza and dont think I ever had a better tour of duty. I had the pleasure of working with British MP's during the Pope's visit.

very good, I was out there when the fun was really getting going 1992-94, working for the UNHCR running the aid convoys into Sarajevo,Zenica,Mostar etc. We were based in metkovic on the Croatian Bosnian border, it was the best job i`ve ever had and the most memorable experience of my life!! Your photos bought back some memories, particulaly Sarajevo, the TV/Newspaper building was amazing to see collapsed (especially as it was still smoking!!) Sniper alley as we knew it was the dual carriageway that ran from Sarajevo Airport down the west side of the city and then into the city, past the newspaper building etc. what a rush driving down that road, small arms fire, machine guns, AK`s, mortars, RPG`s, you name we used to get it!! I loved it and hated all at the same time and now I just miss it.thanks for the memories. Rick.
