at the office
9.7.2009 I spent last 2,5 months in Nepal. This image will start my photo story from Nepal. It was taken in an office of a local airliner on a small airport in Western Nepal.

lego
4.4.2009 A child played by the table, got bored and walked away. What was left was a red tower of lego blocks.

29.3.2009 Toilets aren't normally the most esthetic spots on the planet, but I couldn't resist taking a picture in this one.

resurrection
29.3.2009 It's been a while since I last posted an image. Studying all day is an efficient way to kill your creativity. Now its over, so it is time to shoot some pictures again! This image is dedicated to a friend of mine, who kindly suspected there must something wrong with my new camera because I haven't posted any pictures on pbase since buying the camera two months ago.

waiting
9.1.2008 I got off the train in the middle of nowhere in southern Finland. Sun was setting below the horizon. The train stood by the station couple of minutes waiting for another train to pass. It was the pleasing mixture of light and pastel colours that caught my eye.

barn
25.12.2008 Finland is a promised land of old, abandoned and leaning barns. You can find them all over Finland telling story of how things used to be. I find them quite sympathic in their simplicity.

living on the edge
25.12.2008 Roads are covered in ice again. Each year when the first snow comes, there are several accidents on the roads - as if it was the first time in history that we get snow. I guess it requires loads of "nothing-will-ever-happen-to-me-because-I-am-immortal" -type of self confidence to be able to drive 80-100 km/h on slippery roads year after year. A handful of luck isn't bad either.

blue tunnel
11.10.2008 I've always enjoyed traveling by train. You are not forced to sit tightly on your seat; you can have a walk (and a pretty long one too) if you don't feel like sitting anymore. And trains go quite smoothly too - eventhough I needed to wait until the train stopped to take this picture to avoid blur.. |
the Roman walk
11.10.2008 One of the things I appreciate in many European cities is that they haven't been designed solely for cars. Eventhough Rome is a huge city, you can rather easily see majority of the city by foot - if you just remember to pay little attention to all those unpredictable little Fiats out there that are driven by boiling Italian temper. |
memories
11.10.2008 Grandgrand parents of a friend of mine once lived in this house. The house had been left unoccupied after their death. Today - several years later - sheets are still in the bed and drawers are full of clothes that once belonged to them. These two chairs stood there waiting to get cleaned and be useful again. |

H2O
22.9.2008 Yesterday, after I had finished eating the dinner I had just cooked, I noticed that boiling water had accumulated on the glass cover of the pan. Drops were side by side on the glass surface. I had two options: let it be and go to bed (it was getting late already), or set up a little home studio and shoot some pictures. Well, the choice was easy. |
living in a mosaic
22.9.2008 While a friend of mine was preparing a delicious Italian dinner, I wandered around in his apartment and ended up looking out of the window facing to the interior yard. The day had already turned into night so neighbours had switched their lights on. Lit rooms formed an interesting mosaic of light; some lights had warm colour while others were cooler, few were slightly green and some a bit reddish. I think I spotted a blue one too. |
