Digiscopy

Digiscopy is the taking of digital pictures through a spotting scope as opposed to a long telephoto lens. The spotting scope is usually one with an objective lens in the 60mm to 80mm range. I bucked the trend a bit and wanted a scope I could use for birds and animals and astrophotography. My spotting scope is a Celestron spotting scope (102mm objective lens) with a 500mm focal length at f/5 , set up with a 40mm scopetronix adapter and lense. On the astrophotography front, a spotting scope is really only good for looking at the moon and real bright planets or stars. Combine the 40mm with the 500mm and end up with a 12.5 power scope. Then multiply by 4X, which is the optical zoom of my Canon G3 and you have a 50 power lens or a 2500mm equivalent lens. Anyway, here are a few of my initial attempts. I also perform photographic editing services of your photographs. More information is available about this service by going to: Image Doctor.
