christmas island mantis shrimp

This animal, commonly known as a Mantis shrimp, is a stomatopod, a marine predator
that lives in a cave, which it digs in the sand, where it waits under the opening,
a small hole, for it’s prey (crabs, shrimps & fish) to pass by.
It has powerful claws, resembling those of the praying mantis,
which it uses to grab or strike it’s prey, with tremendous force,
and drag the unfortunate critter into it’s cave for consumption.

Just a very unique picture, very natural and rare at the same time. Christmas islands has been one of our suggestions for traveling in the future always. It looks just like we like it, lots of clear water and animal species. Any tips? What would be the best hotel there? If there is more than one? Again, all the pictures are lovely and I am glad you had such a great time fishing with friends. thanks Patty de Gumbs
