this fish is a member of the family Albulidae (order Elopiformes).
it is an ancient fish with a bony rather than cartilaginous skeleton.
apparently, 120 million year old fossils have been found in many places.
it is thought that the fish shown in this photo, my first bonefish,
caught on a fly that i tied, is very similar in outward
appearance to it's 120,000,000 year old ancestors.
