The ruins of Urquhart Castle are located on a rocky peninsula on the picturesque banks of Loch Ness, about 2 miles from Drumnadrochit in northern Scotland. After a checkered history, the building was blown up in 1692 to prevent it becoming a Jacobite stronghold.
