The Castle

I am glad to tell the story of this place, which I will try to do with the photos in this gallery. It is part of the history of this area. Too many places are lost to History and I did not want that to happen to this place. This place is located in Harney County, Eastern Oregon. After 5 years of research and photography, here are the results.

These images have haunted me since I first viewed your excellent documentation. I imagine how this house was built with love and promise for the future as the husband brought a bit of Germany to his wife. I wonder why it was abandoned and if something happened to the couple which caused them to leave it all behind. Your excellent work really spoke to me. Thank you! Voted.

The greater detail of large format really comes though in these images. And the setting was challenging for the interior shots. Nice work!

If you had not recorded this sad deterioration, I guess no-one else would have.
I keep thinking how proud they must have been when they worked hard to build this once-solid home.
