Nice in its day, not anymore

This home was built in 1900 and finished in 1901 by the Newell Family. They were pioneers in this area. On weekends, people came from miles around to see this place and the Newell family welcomed everyone!
Styled after a castle in Germany, it was unique to say the least.
I have never seen anything like it. I spent 5 years researching
and photographing it. It is on private land and the owner who gave me permission to
take these photos was not user friendly.
By the mid 1920's it was empty, left to fall apart. Most of the Newell fmily moved to Idaho.
What you see in these photos is what remains today.
April 1st, 2008 was my last day here.
Update. I returned in September of 2012 and put up another gallery.
