Lens Test

All pictures in this gallery are taken with SIGMA SD9/10.
We can enlarge pictures on a display, however not so many
cameras supply us enough quality for original size.
Fortunately SIGMA SD9/10 are two of such cameras.
All pictures in this gallery have "original" size.

All picture of this gallery is taken with tripod (SLIK professional II and manfrotto 405),
and shutter released by remote controler after mirror up.

However the lenses have individual differences, and all picture by SIGMA lens is taken
by Auto-Focus. So that, some lenses do not show you the best.

Thanks for these comparisons. I have your page in my favourites so that I can keep up to date on your tests. I am particularly interested in the 12-24 and the 10-20 at the moment, trying to choose between them. I like the idea of the 12-24 being a full frame lens because I still use film sometimes and I am collecting together a set of EX lenses to use with both formats. I was surprised though to see your comparison of the 12-24 with the 15-30. The 12-24 looks very soft in comparison whereas the comparison of the 15-30 and the 10-20 makes the 10-20 look quite good. I am wondering whether it is worth spending an extra Ł100 for full frame when the 10-20 looks sharp and contrasty by comparison. I think I have a bit of thinking and looking to do. Very interesting tests. I have a question for you about the new 70mm 2.8 macro. I'd like to know the distance of the subject of the pic from the front element of the lens at the max. magnification (1:1). Thank you in advance for the answer and my compliments for the beautiful galleries.

Really impressive tests.... I am waiting for the SD14 and considering to join the SIGMA DSLR family. Don't know if you have a 10mm-20mm ultra wide or not. Would you mind having a test with it if you do have? coz i am thinking of buying one if i am going to get the SD14 in the future Cheers !

I appreciate this gallery tremendously. Just realised that the 18-50mm isnt that good even compared to the 18-125mm. I would appreciate if you could test the 12-24 vs 15-30 soon! Let me know alright! CHeers

Thank you for your gallery. I download all your pictures. These test and comparison are very usefull for me and i think that for everybody who wants right spend money. I wanted buy 18-50 2.8 Ex, but when i saw your comparison, i didnt buy it and buy fix-focal sigma 20 1.8 EX, which is bright and sharp. Yes zoom is good, but primary i want relative wide + sharp + bright... and i havent money for expensive L canon zoom lens . I apologize to everybody for my English. Bey bey Tomas - Czech Republic

I love the test. I think we need more web sites about Sigma Len Test. This is one of the best. Can you post the picture of Sigma 180mm at very far distance or infinity? I really want to know how good it will be if I also use it as telephoto len. You can email me instead too. Thanks, Mee

Thanks you for posting this gallery----it is most helpful, and must have been a lot of work to accomplish. It answers the questions that keep getting asked over and over---"which lens is sharpest?"
