Toby, the local SES controller, gave me a guided tour of the SES centre in Bellingen. Here Toby is explaining that SES volunteers no longer have to physically check the water levels at the river, but through the benefits of technology vital information is fed into their computer system enabling SES personnel to analyse data and monitor the behaviour of flooding rivers.
