Eastern Samar!

"Kathy funny you should write... I'll be there tomorrow..." *laughs* Talk about short notice!!! How ironic is it that I got to travel with my very first surf instructor (Scott Reddie-the guy who got me into surf and surf photography in the first place) and his two friends (Danger and Wonderpants). Eastern Samar... we will be back. :) Small swell, excellent company. Red horse, Karaoke, Giant crabs, and abalone for only 30 pesos. Wow Samar! Truly Amazing! ;)

To each and everyone who made an effort to create this site especially posting all these pictures,I would like to thank you all for sharing them. The fact that we cannot enjoy much the beauty of our beloved town 'Salcedo' due to our lives journey. My 26 yrs of absence from salcedo, i cannot visualized the changes and the better improvements that salcedo has proven, therefore i thank you all for the thoughts, hardship and time that you all had invested on this site. Hi, Im Virgie taga Guiuan liwat ako at product ng Assumption College hindi pa yon Academy. Gusto ko mangumusta kina Constancia quizon kaklase ko noon, Marilyn aguirre, Aurea Badeo narito ako ngayon sa Canada. Matagal na kasi ako na hindi nakakauwi since 1972 before Martial Law. Im very happy na ang provincia na nalakihan ko ay napakaganda pa rin. Pagbakasyon ko may awa ang Dios uuwi talaga ako sa Guiuan. Thanks Katty for this marvilous pictures. I Love It.

hi.... my name is monaliza abunales baylon-villas, 30 years old. it is nice to know that i've search this site, im the grand daughter of mr.LOrenzo Tabontabon Abunales sr. and Mrs. Delfina Esquierdo Abunales,of Brgy.Alingarog Guiuan Eastern Samar. I actually live in Alingarog since 1990 to 1993, i've took my first year in assumption academy of samar, but now its St. Mary academy of Guiuan... then i'll go back to Manila to continue my study. I feel greatful that everytime i use internet to search Abunales and Esquierdo Clan, and i meet someone who is a part of my clan... Im in Singapore now working, and everytime i meet someone i always said that "I'm proud to be waray" so i do believe that all warays are clever, smart and beautiful... so for all warays there be proud... and Im planning to have my vacation on december at my hometown Alingarog Guiuan Eastern Samar.. see you everybody there... Hi! This is an inquiry about a certain Catalina (Taling) Sabalberino from Guiuan, Samar. I heard she got married to a certain Mr. Julian Abunales who is teaching at Salcedo Agricultural School, if this is the correct name of the school. Hello...para kay Lito Garado Corral,ako an nagpapakiana tungod kan Tarcing Garado Balbuena.I'm Naty Castellano Martinez,best friend ni Tarcing and I'm from Homonhon.Di ko alam na patay na pala siya,akala ko magkikita pa rin kami balang araw..hindi na pala.Classmate ko siya sa Assumption College,maiha ko na hiya nga guin bibiling,kasi matagal na rin akong di umuuwi sa Guiuan,30yrs na.Though late,condolence pa rin...the last time that we met was during the first mass of my cousin and our classmate Daniel Israel at Christ the King Church in Quezon City...late 70s I presume.Thank you very much Lito...may God bless you always.

Kathy the pictures are awesome. They kind of relieve my homesickness. I am a native of Salcedo Eastern Samar now I am based in Long Island, New York with my family. I was in the same resort in October 2007 and I was one of the spectators of the surfing competition. The place is beautiful.I took pictures too but of course they are not as good as yours. Keep up the good work.

Hi Kathy I'm also from Salcedo nearby town of GUIUAN I know the resort because during childhood days we usually go to Calicoan for fun. I"m now working as project manager in a special project here in Butuan city. I just hope that the Calicoan beach that I know will not be tainted with cauliform just like what happen to Boracay. and that the influx of tourist coming from other places or country will be regulated and that a privilege for the local people for payment for the beach will be much cheaper than those of foreign tourist. let us make calicoan beach an environment friendly,and ecologically sound. Salamat hin duro han imo maupay nga mga kuha han picture han calicoan resort.

Cathy! thanks for featuring the calicoan beach, I am from Guiuan also, but havent been there that very funtastic beach "Calicoan" my God! its really perfect...its just like in Woollamai Beach here in Phillip Island Australia!We are planning to visit that beach this coming december , hopefully our holiday will stay long. No worries about the accomodation, i belong to the Daiz clan so then many will accomodate us.

My wife is from Llorente and have been there several times. How is the NPA activity since that raid in a town in western Samar in 03? We would like to open a small resort for relaxing/fishing/surfing and so on but the United State department of State still classify Samar as dangerous and the UK as well I think. Any comments? Personally, I haven't ever had a problem with the NPA and once there was some road bandits that tried to drag a log into the road to block us so they could rob us but it was poorly thought out and we went around it. Hi Ms. Kathy! I'm Elmer Garado from Guiuan, Eastern Samar. I was happy viewing the pictures taken at the beach in Calicoan. Hope Calicoan would be fully developed to become one of the country's prime surfing destinations.
